Perbadanan Nasional Bhd Article
| Plan for franchise growth < Asia > February 2nd, 2006 Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (PNS), which is looking to acquire homegrown franchisers, is developing a blueprint that is expected to help spur the franchising businesses in the country. PNS director Mohd Zuhri Abdullah says the blueprint is vital towards realising its target of 50 homegrown franchisers and 2,000 franchisees in the next five years. “We’re developing a blueprint; the final draft has been completed. We would be able to table it to the MECD (Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development) very soon. The blueprint would include KPIs (key performance indicators). “We’re hoping to develop 50 home-grown franchisers. With every franchiser having 40 franchisees, that makes it 2,000 franchisees,” he tells FinancialDaily. As a start, Zuhri says PNS, a unit of Ministry of Finance Incorporated, is allocating some RM80 million to acquire equity in local or foreign franchisers this year. “There’s no limit stake yet. We’re looking at maybe a maximum stake of 40%. He says PNS is looking for companies with good growth and strong products for franchising. There are 15 franchisers currently registered with PNS. http://www.theedgedaily.com/cms/content.jsp?id ... |
