| Franchise Insurance sells Subway franchisee accounts < United States > March 7th, 2008 Insurer and broker Brown & Brown Inc. has bought a book of Subway restaurant franchisee insurance accounts from Columbus' Franchise Insurance Agency Inc.
Daytona Beach, Fla.-based Brown & Brown said the purchase was made through a subsidiary, Brown & Brown of Connecticut Inc., but didn't disclose the terms of the deal or the number of accounts included. While Columbus-based Franchise Insurance Agency provides property casualty and employee benefits programs, the company was founded in 1990 to offer property casualty insurance for Subway franchise owners. Franchise Insurance in 2006 recorded $47.9 million in written premiums for Central Ohio. As of May 2007, the company had 46 agents and a staff of 86. Brown & Brown (NYSE:BRO) employs about 4,000 nationwide and in 2006 recorded profit of $172.4 million on revenue of $878 million. http://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/stories/20 ... |
