LEADING Australian developer of commercial business systems, Micronet, yesterday launched its new bookkeeping outsourcing service that will operate internationally from the company's recently established Suva office.

The company a supplier of accounting and franchise management software established its office in Suva last year.

It provides 24-hour sales and support facilities for existing clients worldwide and for opportunities in the United States.

The new product will provide both local and international businesses access to online accounting services, allowing businesses to completely outsource these functions, and enabling strategic monthly tracking of key accounting indicators.

Working with Australian accounting firm Lawler Partners, Micronet has now completed three months of trials geared to service Micronet's customers in Fiji, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

"I am delighted to announce the launch of this new initiative for the company and thrilled that we are able to launch it from our headquarters in Suva," Micronet director Drew Arthur said.

"Geographic boundaries of service provision are removed by the use of the technology employed by Micronet, making Suva an ideal location to operate in.

"The launch of this service qualifies us as one, if not the largest software and support company in Fiji," he said.

Mr Arthur said by using an outsourced bookkeeping service, customers could minimise or remove altogether internal accounting functions, significantly reducing the cost of complying with government regulations for tax and reporting.

"This innovative service delivery method not only provides a cost- effective solution for meeting business statutory obligations but also ensures businesses maintain effective reporting on performance through a monthly financial management reporting package we receive from Lawler Partners.

"The reporting package also measures key business indicators and ensures that management are fully aware of the financial environment in which they operate.

"With support from the Fiji Government, in particular the FTIB, Micronet has been able to join other ICT companies looking to tap into the excellent tertiary education system available in Fiji that provides qualified and keen candidates for employment and training.

"The success of the operation in Fiji to date is extremely encouraging and while a stable operating environment exists, we see no reason why we cannot continue to grow here," he said.

Micronet provides both fully hosted and traditional licensed financials, sales, inventory management and job costing solutions to the distribution and franchise sector.

It has employed and trained 14 local staff as support specialists for Micronet's applications.

It also provides packaged commercial software applications specifically designed for small to medium enterprises and franchise groups.
