Since 1998, the Spanish building industry's growth rates have been higher than the European average (not including non-residential): 5% in 2005 and 4.1% in 2006. That growth is due to pool and public investments. The residential industry has grown about 7.5% in 2005 and experts forecast a 4.3% rate in 2006. As far as the civil engineering industry is concerned, after last year's 8.5% rate, a 6% increase should be recorded in 2006.
