The Italian building industry has been steadily growing for the past seven years, even though the 2005 1.5% growth rate is lower than before (3% in 2004). The residential new constructions industry and the renovation industry are doing well, the non-residential industry is slightly decreasing. 2006 should bring a general 1.1% decrease. The civil engineering industry has increased in 2005 (1.7%) for the 9th year in a row. Its growth should continue in 2006, but at a lower rate (1%).
