| Ecowash: Waterless wash for new Hyundai Grandeur launch cars < Australia > March 14th, 2006 Hyundai has chosen a waterless car washing service to prepare its new Grandeur sedans for a media launch held today at the Novotel Lake Crackenback Resort located close to Thredbo ski resort.
With severe water restrictions in place across Australia, alternate methods to water washing were used to clean the cars prior to the launch. Each of the 23 Grandeurs were kept in spotless condition using the Premium Ecowash 2-in-1 wash and polish. Using an innovative, waterless technique, the Ecowash approach is not only environmentally friendly, but uses an exclusive product range that includes a polymer compound. The compound is sprayed onto the car exterior, encapsulating surface dirt which is then removed with a soft cloth, leaving behind a protective coating to guard against the elements and harmful effects of wear and tear. Windscreens and windows are kept crystal clear using a glass cleaner that also acts as polish for dispersing rain droplets and creating an anti-fog, anti-static shield, as well as being friendly to tinted windows. Jim Cornish and Stewart Nicholls, Directors of Ecowash Mobile, established the mobile car detailing business in March 2004 and currently operate in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, ACT and several regional areas. They now have 27 Ecowash mobile units including Hyundai’s Getz operating around Australia. “We started Ecowash Mobile because in the current Australian environment we saw a market for car cleaning without using water. In addition, our approach actually gets a better result than washing a car with water,” Jim Cornish said. “Water-based car washing has fast become a serious concern in the current Australian drought conditions with water authorities in most states banning car washing using a hose, as well as restricting car dealers’ car washing operations,” he said. Ecowash Mobile has already saved more than 12 million litres of water since it began last year and the 100 percent Australian company also took out the Getting Started award for the 2005 Australia Post NSW/ACT Small Business Awards in November. This is the second time Ecowash Mobile has been closely involved with Hyundai. In June 2005 Ecowash Mobile detailed 47 cars for the media and dealer launch of the Hyundai Sonata in Hobart.
