With an international presence, Sunbelt is the largest network of business brokers in the world. Our network is comprised of independently owned and operated office locations, focused on being an intemediatary between buyers and sellers.

Sunbelt began operations in 1978 in Charleston, SC. Sunbelt prospered as a single office operation until 1991 when Ed Pendarvis, Sunbelt's founder, formed a partnership with an individual to open an office in Greenville, SC. The partnership method was used to opne additional offices in Charlotte, NC, Columbia, SC, and Spartanburg, SC. In each case, Sunbelt was the largest business brokerage firm in each market within a few months of opening.
In May 1993, the License Offering Circular was approved and the existing offices, with the exception of Charleston, were converted to franchises. In November 1993, the Sunbelt trademark was granted by the United States Patent and Trademark office and franchising began in earnest.

Sunbelt can help buyers and sellers in the four areas of the private business market.
1. Main Street Businesses- General businesses that usually have gross sales of $1,000,000 or less per year and have 20 or fewer employees (95% of U.S. business fall into this catagory).
2. Franchise Sales- Sunbelt is pleased to represent a select group of franchisors with a proven track record of success in their field. When you buy a franchise, you are in business for yourself, but not by yourself. These franchisors have proven business systems and known names in their respective markets.
3. Franchise Re-Sales- Thousands of exciting franchise businesses resell every year, often for "human driven" reasons. The owner retires, dies, is in poor health, is getting a divorce, is relocating or experiences other life-changing circumstances. We always want to know why someone is selling their business, and so do you. Depending on the circumstances, the sale of an existing franchise may present a good business opportunity for the buyer. An existing franchise has the advantage of being an existing business plus it is a franchise.
4. Mergers and Acquisitions - SUNBELT M&A (Private Investment Banking) is a major division that has put each SUNBELT office in a market leadership position in supporting M&A transactions in the range of $1,000,000 - $30,000,000.
