The Extreme Pita

One of the greatest strengths of the Extreme Pita is its ability to customize every rolled pita to suit the individual tastes of its health conscious customers. Lunch, dinner and late night offerings include a uniquely fresh and healthy variety of rolled pita sandwiches. Many wonderful menu items such as Extreme Club, Philly Cheese Steak, Beef Bistro, Grilled Chicken, Gyros, and Falafel are combined with a choice of different vegetable varieties served fresh or sautéed to perfection right in front of the customer’s eyes. In addition to a healthy pita sandwich menu, broad enough to satisfy everyone’s taste, the Extreme Pita offers a variety of pita pizzas, fresh salads, soups, and drinks.
The key to Extreme Pita’s ongoing success has been its people. Co-Founder’s and owner Alex and Mark Rechichi have assembled a winning corporate team that continues to build the Extreme Pita at an industry leading double digit growth rate, making us one of the most successful franchise operations in North America. We believe this is due to one fundamental

The Extreme Pita was co-founded by Alex and Mark Rechichi in 1997. Their desire was to provide a product that would compete against traditional fast food concepts. Right from the start their idea was simple -- sell fast, fresh, high quality, and healthy food. After a great deal of research and experimenting, the Extreme Pita became the answer to this quest.
After looking at various different sandwich concepts Alex and Mark decided that their product would need to go that extra mile, by providing customers more choice. One thing was for sure, they did not want their customers to get full on foot long loafs of bread with very little fresh toppings in between. Hence they decided on pita bread and the reasons were simple:
1) Pita bread has a high nutritional content;
2) Pita bread is thin, yet strong enough to be packed full with delicious meats, vegetables, cheeses and sauces. Allowing customers to enjoy more toppings and less bread;
3) Unlike “traditional wrap sandwiches”, pita bread still tastes like bread, something that everyone is accustomed to tasting. After all, pita bread has been in existence for over 2000 years!
The result is a sandwich that is extremely healthy, easy to eat, and tastes great. People can now eat at a fast food restaurant and “feel good about what they eat!”
Although both owners remain intimately involved in the day-to-day management of the company and travel extensively between the different offices they have also evolved in their roles as the company has evolved. Alex Rechichi has primarily focused on the growth of the chain beyond its Ontario roots, while Mark Rechichi has continued to provide leadership in Franchise Support and Administrative matters in the Toronto Office.
This strategy has led to a greater focus on franchise development and a quicker transference of culture to new markets while the base business maintains focus and stability.
