Workforce Extensions was established in 1997 as a supplier of contract or on-hire labour, principally to the horticulture industry. As that market niche flourished for Workforce, the company saw the opportunity to service a wider range of industries. Today the business has expanded its operations to include the supply of personnel, both temporary and permanent to almost any industry.

The Workforce Extensions business was established in 1997 as a supplier of contract or on-hire staff, principally to the horticulture industry. As that market niche flourished, the company saw the opportunity to service a wider range of industries. Today the business has expanded its operations to include the supply of personnel, both temporary and permanent to almost any industry. Typical industries serviced include warehouse and distribution, building and construction, transport and logistics, agriculture and horticulture, education, medical and aged care and process workers in manufacturing and local government.

While all our franchisees supply contract or on-hire staff, some of our franchisees also carry out permanent placements for their clients. The provision of this service is at the discretion of the franchisee and depends upon their clients’ needs and the franchisee’s own skills and experience. One advantage of providing this service is that it builds your network of contacts which in turn helps to build your client list for supplying on-hire labour.

The company expanded in the traditional manner of opening more outlets to meet customer demand until 2002 when it was decided to convert to a franchised format. The principal reason for this was that it was becoming increasingly difficult to retain experienced staff to operate the branches. Franchising was seen as a solution to this problem because the commitment of a franchisee was naturally long term as opposed to that of an employee who may leave at short notice.

While franchising has solved the problem of raising the level of commitment, the unforeseen benefits to the company have proven to be of even greater value. The principal one of these has been the substantial increase in revenue generated by the presence of an owner-operator. What’s more, our franchisees have shared in this success through their profitability. With such success the company has decided to continue expanding through franchising.

On-Hired Labour
Labour hire is an ideal means of helping businesses to:

- Manage peaks in labour demand
- Cover leave/absenteeism
- Find staff at short notice
- Reduce paperwork
- Increase flexibility
- Reduce risk
- Manage Occupational Health and Safety issues

Permanent Recruitment:
Permanent recruitment is ideal for placing permanent staff within your organisation. It can be tailored to the specific demands of your business and the position.

Contract Recruitment:
Contract recruitment is a hybrid of the above two services and provides the specific tailored approach of Permanent Recruitment with the flexibility of labour hire. This service can be used as a "Try Before You Buy" arrangement and is ideal for many semi-skilled or skilled roles.

The benefits to the franchisee are:

- Minimisation of the cash flow burden of carrying clients’ accounts.
The franchisor funds the cash flow.
- The minimisation of the administrative cost of paying wages and keeping payroll records for on-hire staff. The franchisor takes over this financing and responsibility.
- The problem many small businesses face of growth in their business leading to cash flow funding difficulties is therefore eliminated.
- With the need to attend to administrative detail kept to an absolute minimum the franchisee’s time can be spent building the business which will in turn lead to growth in income and profitability.
- Access to industry specific software that is designed to do the job.

Of course there are many other benefits to franchisees in joining the Workforce Extensions group. These include access to our proven systems for generating business, handling clients and recruiting and placing on-hire labour.
