The Polish competition authorities have given their approval for Carrefour's 375 mln eur acquisition of Ahold Polska, with the condition that it disposes of nine stores, Carrefour said.

In a statement, the group said it has already agreed to the disposals. The European Commission said it referred its inquiry into the purchase of Royal Ahold NV's Polish retail operations to Poland's competition authority in April at Poland's request.

Carrefour said the approval means it will have close to 330 stores in the country, with Carrefour Polska becoming number two in the Polish food retail market, with close to 2 bln eur in annual sales, including VAT.
