Second-hand goods company Cash Converters International plans to acquire two micro-lending businesses, Mon-e Pty Ltd and the Safrock group of companies.

Mon-e is the company which provides the software program and back office support for Cash Converters franchisees to make cash advances to their customers, while the Safrock group of companies makes loans to Cash Converters customers, using the franchises as its agents.

Cash Converters said it had agreed to pay $15 million for Mon-e and $17.5 million for Safrock Group, with both deals payable as 30 per cent in cash and 70 per cent in shares.

The acquisitions are subject to the execution of contracts, due diligence and shareholder approval.

The pawnbroker also announced plans to fund the cash component of each acquisition and additional working capital through a share placement totalling $15 million.
