Payment services provider First Data Corp. of Colorado has launched one of the first radio frequency identification (RFID) gift card programs in the country with Smoothie King Franchises Inc.

Starting March 14, Smoothie King will test the RFID cards at five stores in Colorado. This state was chosen because of its relatively young, technologically savvy population, according to First Data.
