Futures in Education Offers National Franchise Opportunities
< North America >

March 1st, 2006

Futures in Education, Inc., providing one-to-one individualized instruction, announced today it is offering national franchise opportunities for its innovative Halstrom High School(TM) program. The private, fully accredited schools cater to students who seek a more personalized secondary school experience; franchisees should be dedicated to educational excellence above all else.

Founded in 1985 by Dr. Karen Bishop, Futures in Education today operates three Southern California campuses -- in Oceanside, Mission Viejo, and San Diego -- and an online school. As an alternative to typical high school instruction, Halstrom does not offer courses in a traditional classroom setting. Instead, students are partnered with individual teachers, resulting in a hands-on learning experience that ensures academic success.

Using a school concept based on Oxford University's tutorial system, Halstrom students work in a mastery-based learning program; they move through the curriculum only after passing each lesson. The benefits of this approach are positively reflected in the number of Halstrom graduates who continue to college: 75-80 percent.

This success over the past 20 years, coupled with the growing demand for alternative education programs, led to the development of the franchise opportunity. Franchisees must possess a true desire to help students by offering a learning environment that fosters exceptional performance.

"The idea of franchising schools is becoming very popular," said Halstrom CEO Elizabeth Halasz. "With class sizes growing and public institutions no longer being able to meet the needs of many students, parents are seeking alternatives that provide a first-class education, catered specifically to their children. As a completely private institution that is fully accredited, we offer a unique experience for students through our 1 to 1 Difference(TM) program."

Futures in Education will provide the curriculum and guidelines to franchisees. Comprehensive initial training also takes place, and is supplemented by regional meetings, annual conferences, and on-demand support.

"For anyone who has ever sought to make a difference in children's educational experiences, this is an extraordinary opportunity," said Carolyn Lindstrom, Futures in Education COO. "We're looking for people who understand the value of a personalized education and recognize the importance of preparing today's youth for tomorrow's world."
