Hell sells to BK in NZ
< New Zealand >

December 6th, 2006
The Hell pizza chain has been bought by the local Burger King franchise operator, reportedly for about $15 million. TPF Group is the Burger King franchise operator, brought to New Zealand in 1995. Hell was founded a year later by Warren Powell and two others and now has 64 franchises throughout New Zealand. Colin Mellar, appointed by TPF as the new general manager of Hell, says the business will operate as an independent subsidiary with no major changes planned. "The only significant change we see will be increasing the number of Hell outlets." Existing franchise operators will work under the new owner. Mr Powell told the Dominion Post he plans to use some of the sale proceeds to develop Hell stores overseas.
