Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc.'s connection with the Middle East deepened this week.

Last month a Kuwaiti company took a major stake in Krispy Kreme and Tuesday Krispy Kreme said it had awarded the Middle East franchise rights to the Americana Group, a major restaurant and food company in the region that is based in Kuwait.
