Local Outdoor Lighting Franchise in Charlotte Addresses Issue of Light Pollution

According to NiteLites Outdoor Lighting of Charlotte, light pollution is misdirected or misused artificial light. There are three elements of light pollution – sky glow, light trespass, and glare. Sky glow is light which shines upward, and lights nothing. Sky glow does not light walkways, properties, or parking lots and, thus, does not enhance safety and security in these areas. Light trespass is light which shines beyond its intended target and spreads beyond the property boundaries for example into a neighbor's yard or window. While light trespass may light the intended items it also encroaches on surrounding properties because the lighting is not properly controlled. Glare is the intensity of the lighting in a non-useful and sometimes dangerous way. It can be aggravating and at times even dangerous as glare from lights may temporarily blind pedestrians or motor vehicle operators. Each of these elements can appear separately or in conjunction with the other two elements in an improperly installed outdoor lighting system...
