A locally registered company, Camex Restaurant Inc, is getting ready to open to the public the American brand, Church's Chicken restaurant at the corner of Camp and Middle streets in time for Mash Day.

Director of the local franchise holder, Terrence Campbell told Stabroek News yesterday that work to bring the facility to international standards is being done.
The fast food restaurant would be located on the ground floor of the two-storey building now being renovated while the top flat would be used for offices.

The building, formerly housed a Xerox photocopying outfit and a restaurant upstairs.

Asked about competition from other American brands such as KFC and Popeye's, Campbell said they have different menus while Church's has a special spicy one to cater for the Caribbean palate. The menu, he said, was formulated in Trinidad and Tobago, which has 14 Church's Chicken restaurants around the country. He said the investment is part of a plan that would include, probably, two or three more restaurants being opened in Guyana and one or more in Suriname.
